The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will roll out their online transaction program early next year.
Tthe Land Transport Management System or LTMS with 24 pilot sites nationwide, will streamline transactions with the agency. Using the LTMS, one can his/her driver’s license and vehicle registration, pay fees, even settle a traffic violation and other dues.
LTO Director Assistant Sec. Edgar Galvante, in a statement said: “Currently, we have 24 pilot sites in different locations nationwide, but we are working it out so that we can have all of our satellite offices able to do transactions online.”
The LTO system is in line with the promise of the President, during his last State of the Nation address, that of getting rid of long queues when transacting with government offices. President Duterte also said that he wants Filipinos to do their businesses with government agencies, faster, through its online systems.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade is likewise confident that the LTO will achieve its target date. “I am positive that LTO and LTFRB can have their online transactions system ready by next year following the president’s SONA announcement.” said Tugade.
The project should be done as early as September this year, except for some matters with the previous data service provider. Sources inside the LTO says that the complete handover of the database by the former service provider to Dermalog (the new service provider) has yet to be completed.
Asec. Galvante stated that he is very satisfied with Dermalog, and would like to see them complete their job by the first quarter of 2021. “We have a German service provider now, Dermalog. It is a German company and one of the best worldwide, and LTO benefits from their experience” according to Galvante.
Data from the 24 LTO LTMS pilot sites, shows a 100% usage in 19 areas with a hair over 90% in the other five sites. The only hindrance is the interference of the previous service provider who repeatedly inserts themselves into the new system.
“We will still have to get the complete database from the previous provider, but, I have said we will have all of this and complete the project by early next year,” assured Asec. Galvante.
