Production of the recently unveiled new Bentley Bentayga is now ongoing at Bentley Motors’ carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, UK. Deliveries of the luxury SUV will soon start in Europe, with the thoroughly redesigned model expected to reach global markets not long after.
As manufacturing ramps up at the Bentley factory, the new Bentayga is reaching unprecedented levels of production quality to meet Bentley’s own exacting standards. More than 100 employees work on the socially-distanced Bentayga production line as the SUV progresses through 43 stages of assembly.
“In the lead up to commencing production we reviewed each individual process to ensure its efficiency and effectiveness, implementing industry-leading lean techniques with social distancing measures included. What we are seeing at the start of production is a car that is significantly revised, both inside and out, and yet reaching record quality in manufacture levels across the industry—raising the bar again as the sector-defining luxury SUV,” said Peter Bosch, Member of the Board for Manufacturing at Bentley Motors.
This transformation of the build process allowed for even greater lean manufacturing principles to be adopted. Over 1,500 workers were taught lean principles, maximizing value to customers while reducing waste in production. Changes include improved ergonomics, safer processes and reduced walking and waiting times due to repositioning and movement of parts.

Defining the latest Bentayga is Bentley’s current design language introduced in the third-generation Continental GT and all-new Flying Spur. The Bentayga now has a larger matrix grille that is now more upright, intelligent LED matrix headlamps, a more aggressive front bumper, and a totally revised rear with a new full-width tailgate, oval lamps and a repositioned license plate mount. A 20-millimeter increase to the rear track brings dynamic benefit and improves the SUV’s stance. The wheels are newly designed, too.
The Bentayga’s interior has been significantly revised as well, flaunting a new center fascia, steering wheel, door trim and seats. Legroom in the rear increased by up to 100 millimeters. A next-generation infotainment system, integrated seamlessly into the handcrafted dashboard, features a 10.9-inch display screen with edge-to-edge graphics.
“The new Bentayga is a celebration of all that we can do in Crewe and is a testament to the skill, passion and dedication of all of our colleagues who produce cars unmatched by any other car factory in the world,” Bosch said.
