Maxus G50 presents a whole new option for multi-passenger transport

Consumers will choose—or even switch to—newly introduced brands if they can see real value. Which is why it’s important for automotive marque like Maxus to give the market a pretty good reason to select their vehicle over the other more established competitors.

And Maxus went beyond giving the G50 multipurpose vehicle a very competitive low price.

“If you want to gain buyers for your relatively new vehicle brand, then packaging that product right will be invaluable,” said 43-year old IT administrator Edmar J. Cheng. “For the Maxus G50, it has a sizable grille up-front, which is real head turner not to mention, a fresh exterior design that sets it apart from the rest. The fact that its spacious interior can comfortably accommodate up to eight is a great plus especially if I want to bring my family of seven on a road trip.”

Dimension: dealbreaker

It was the G50’s dimension that convinced Cheng: At 4.825 meters long, 1.825 meters wide and 1.8 meters tall with those roof rails factored in, he liked the third row that generate enough space for three more thanks to real wheel wells that do not protrude as much into the cabin (that third row also get its own A/C vents in the ceiling plus a USB port for charging).

Moreover, with second row seats that fold 60:40 (reclines and slides with center armrest) plus a third row that folds flat (also 60:40), the G50 offers configurable seats to accommodate cargo of various shapes and dimensions.

Considering this is Cheng’s official family ride (he also drove sedans), he made sure the G50’s safety. All variants are already equipped with front and rear disc brakes; daylight running lights; electronic parking brake with auto hold (stops the vehicle from accidentally rolling backwards when stationary, or setting off on an inclined road); ISOFIX (for attaching child safety seats); engine braking assist with hill hold control (assists brake system when going downhill while at the same time, helps the driver to accelerate smoothly without the danger of the vehicle descending and hitting anything behind it); tire pressure monitoring system; and immobilizer.

For the Elite Polar Ash variant that Cheng got, it already features automatic air-con for front and back; front passenger airbags; front and rear parking sensors; 360-degree panoramic view while reversing; and roof rail to carry more items.

Considering that the G50 has a unibody chassis and thus, no frame bolted onto the body underneath, it offers a much lower floor height where children and the elderly can conveniently and safely get in or out of the vehicle.

British heritage

Launched by SAIC Motor in China in 2011, the Maxus brand traces its roots to the United Kingdom, dating all the way back to 1896 when the Leyland Steam Van was born. In 1907, Leyland Motors was established, and nearly a century later, in 2004, the Maxus van was introduced by Leyland DAF Vans, the company that replaced Leyland Motors. In 2010, SAIC acquired the British firm’s assets and spun off the Maxus model name into a whole new brand of LCVs. The Maxus brand has been well received in other such as markets as Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Africa.

“I am glad that it’s an Ayala company that handles the brand here so you can be sure of reliable and prompt service should you require one,” said Cheng.

Maxus is one of the six brand partner under Ayala Group’s AC Industrials’ wing, which includes other world-renowned car brands Honda, Isuzu, Volkswagen, Kia and KTM motorcycles.

Officially unveiled in Maxus Philippines’ first virtual launch last August, the G50 is a stunning family mover with three variants to choose from: the Pro A/T at P1.088 million, Elite A/T at P1.168 million and Premium A/T at P1.288 million. All three are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission) that generates 167hp and 250Nm of torque.

Considering that a motor vehicle is still the second most important purchase (next to a home) that a family man like Cheng makes, he appreciates Maxus Philippines’ offer of a worry-freebownership backed by a 5-year or 100,000km warranty coverage plus a 24/7 emergency roadside assistance and on-site servicing for corporate fleet accounts gives the G50 a truly attractive value proposition.
