There’s an all-new contender in the country’s ever-growing subcompact sedan market: the Changan Alsvin.

Changan Motor Philippines Inc., the official distributor of one of China’s top automobile groups here in the Philippines, described the Alsvin as the sedan that “exceeds everyday demands and expectations, built to ensure that its owner will not be compromising their standards—be it in terms of style, technology, fuel efficiency, or safety.”

Named after one of the two horses that pulls the sun across the sky in a chariot driven by Sol in Norse mythology (Alsvin means “very swift”), Alsvin is powered by either a 1.5-liter 5-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) that gives out a maximum power of 106hp and maximum torque of 145Nm or a 1.4-liter 5-speed manual that can deliver a maximum 99hp and torque of 135Nm.

The Alvin measures 4.39 meters long, 1.725m wide, and 1.49m high and offers a wheelbase of 2.535m long.

“Butterfly-wing” grille

The Alsvin features eye-catching “Butterfly-wing” grille and comes with Projector Headlamps and LED daytime running lights (DRL). It also comes with a sunroof to welcome natural light and ventilation.

Inside, the Alsvin boasts of a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system that plays music and videos, control wireless phone calls via Bluetooth, and access the AM/FM radio; the manual air-conditioning system with its modern digital display; and plush leather seats.

And to stay true to its promise of exceeding everyday demands and expectations, the Alsvin Platinum variant is packed with the Cruise Control function that lets one lock on to desired speed as well as a blind spot camera and monitor that makes parking easier and safer.

Apart from dual airbags, the Alsvin is equipped with reverse camera. The DCT variants possess the Hill-Hold Control (HHC) that prevents the sedan from rolling backwards for a few seconds until the clutch finds its biting point and moves forward; and the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) that uses automatic braking of individual wheels to prevent spinning out or plowing out so the driver could regain steering control.

To further sweeten the deal, Changan is offering Alsvin at an introductory price that starts at P539,000 for the 1.4L M/T.
