The Vehicle Inspection Center Operators Association of the Philippines (VICOAP) today continued with its road safety advocacy tour, this time at the Triple A PMVIC Valenzuela in Valenzuela City.

The media tour is part of VICOAP’s advocacy campaign, dubbed as “Roadworthy: Ligtas ang Buhay ng mga Mahal sa Buhay.” The campaign aims to raise awareness on the PMVICs’ role in providing accurate, reliable, and data-driven vehicle inspection services, a requirement for vehicle registration. This is to ensure vehicle roadworthiness, with the ultimate goal of guaranteeing safety on the roads nationwide, thus saving more Filipino lives.

According to VICOAP President Iñigo D.S. Larrazabal, road safety requires conscious effort. The roadworthiness inspection instills a sense of responsibility on vehicle owners, with the ultimate goal of ensuring road safety and preventing the senseless loss of lives and property.

“Road crashes do not choose victims. Thus, everyone should be proactive in minimizing the factors that can contribute to a road crash. By having your vehicle inspected, you are guaranteed that your vehicle will be in tip-top shape. Remember that ultimately, it is the motorist’s responsibility to keep the vehicle in good running condition. You can do this having your vehicle inspected, even though you are not due for registration,” the VICOAP President emphasized.

VICOAP assures the PMVIC services’ integrity through the use of technology and aggressive transparency. There will be no room for corruption.

“VICOAP is not only committed to roadworthiness. We put a premium on the integrity of our services. We do not subscribe to corrupt practices. We advocate aggressive transparency through the use of technology and by limiting human intervention,” Mr. Larrazabal explained.

PMVIC facilities have limited human intervention. The pieces of equipment are automated and are connected directly to the LTO’s Information Technology (IT) system, allowing for automatic and real-time submission of inspection reports at the LTO prior to registration.

In addition, the integrity of vehicle testing results, as well as accountability are assured since only authorized personnel are granted access to the equipment. The PMVIC equipment have identity verification using the finger scan technology.

Further, the whole process of inspection is recorded through CCTV cameras.

For his part, VICOAP Internal Vice President Benson So explained that while standards are set, there is always room for improvement.

“Since our industry saves lives, it is important that our services, our standards, should continuously improve. Thus, when consulted by government, we are willing to share our technical expertise–the knowledge and data gathered through testing–in the interest of providing the fairest and best inspection program for Filipino motorists,” Mr. So stressed.

Meanwhile, Triple A PMVIC Valenzuela GM Aboy Cabiltes, invited vehicle owners to check out their facility.

‘We invite vehicle owners to check out the PMVIC and see what our service are like. Our services are affordable and the processing, fast. It will only take around 12 minutes to check the 73 inspection points, and you will have the result,” Valenzuela GM Cabiltes said.
