The “Waku-Doki” spirit lives on as Toyota Motor Philippines announces its intention to bring back the highly popular Toyota Gazoo Racing  – Vios Cup one-make-race series this coming July.
In true quarantine fashion, TMP plans to have no on-site spectators at the Clark International Raceway, where it plans to run the series.
With three legs of the Toyota Gazoo Racing – Vios Cup 2021, TMP will once again enable online live streaming and  viewing of the Vios Cup races so that fans and viewers can follow the excitement in the safety of their own homes.
“Fans can look forward to significant improvements in the production to make the livestream doubly exciting and worth catching,” says Sherwin Chua Lim, TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations.  He adds, “Online fan engagements and brand building experiences will also be boosted through the support of the Toyota Gazoo Racing global brand and the addition of the GR GT Cup e-Motorsports (online racing) activities.”
In what would have been the series’ 7th season last 2020, The country’s leading mobility provider has opted to postpone the year’s races in light of government restrictions to address the spread of COVID-19. TMP instead organized its first e-Motorsports tournament, the Gazoo Racing Supra GT Cup, to keep the racing spirit of its fans alive during trying times. And with last year’s online racing success, TMP will once again conduct another exciting season of e-racing series as a build up to the return of the Vios Cup.

To further add some spice to the Vios Cup’s return, TMP will soon reopen the Toyota Racing School and run an Autocross Challenge to go with the Circuit Championship. There is a catch though, everything depends on how the country is able to deal with the pandemic.
Currently, sanctioned motorsports events and races have yet to make a comeback. But TMP is willing to comply with safety protocols while being hopeful that by July, restrictions will have been relaxed  and no further prohibitions from government or health authorities, as well as  additional risks to participants’ health and safety occur.
Until then, Toyota fans and racers can hone their skills on Gran Turismo Sport which runs on the PlayStation console. Starting this April, the Gazoo Racing GT Cup will once again allow participants to virtually race the Toyota GR Supra and other Toyota GR models at some of the most popular race tracks around the world. With exciting prizes to be won, the online racing series promises to be another sizzler for e-gamers and enthusiasts alike. Registration for the GR GT Cup e-Motorsport series is ongoing at its dedicated website, toyota.com.ph/gtcup
