With the conclusion of Round 2 last May 29, potential winners for the 2021 season of the GR GT Cup Philippines e-Motorsport tournament are beginning to emerge.
Organized by Toyota Gazoo Racing and hosted by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), Round 2 took the players to a fictional city circuit that appears in Gran Turismo Sport where the Tokyo Expressway-East Outer Loop is featured.
The circuit, 7.3 kilometers long, features five sectors as well as 12 turns. Altogether, it’s an exciting and challenging track with varying changes between ascents, flat surfaces, and a series of high-speed corners.
The 17-under Junior Class race heat was dominated by Joshua David Marquez who built a sizable lead by the 5th lap, awarding him with a total of 30 points thanks to Round 2’s 1.5x multiplier. Round 1 champ Russel Cabrera was pushed back to the second place while John Paul Veloso maintained his position at third.
In the Promotional Class, Jether Miole maintained unchallenged as he finished Round 2 with a total of 50 points widening his gap over nearest challengers.
Meanwhile, in the Sporting Class where the best of the racers are competing, Luis Moreno was able to hold off current leader, Terrence Lallave. The overall scores now stand with Moreno at 45 points, Lallave at 42.5 points, and Lance Padilla at 28.
On to Round 3
Round 3 is expected to be even more intense as those in the leaderboard will definitely take advantage of another score multiplier that doubles up the player’s chance to solidify position if not overtake current leaders.
Interested racers may sign up at toyota.com.ph/gtcup/ for the remaining races. They are requested to check out all system requirements for a seamless playing experience.
The overall champions will take home a brand-new Sony PlayStation 5 plus a cash prize, while the second and third placers get to take home high-tech gadgets and a much-coveted gaming chair. Round 3 will stream on June 18 and 19, while the National Finals on June 26, 2021.
