Like many drivers on the road, Alex Gonzaga learned how to drive a car from her father. Back then, as a newbie driver, she recalls getting into a bit of a mishap, accidentally hitting a couple of cars that were parked on the side of the road where she was learning to drive.
And while no one was hurt in that minor and very understandable incident, Alex G (as she is also known as) didn’t want to get back into the driver’s seat again. Once more, it was her dad, Carlito, who consoled her and helped convince her to get behind the wheel once more.
All of that was years ago. Fast forward to today and Alex G has not only become an expert driver, the host, actress, and social media personality has recently become the newest brand ambassador of Chery Auto Philippines.
Driving is just one of the many skills and life lessons that Alex G learned from her dad growing up.
“One of the most important things my dad taught my sister and I is to have faith in the Lord. That whatever we have right now are all gifts from God. That if we have faith, everything will be okay,” Alex G, who has over 10.7 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, said.
Though Alex G is more of a mommy’s girl when they were younger, Alex G said she’s also very close to her dad, who was a contractor-turned-public official.
“My dad’s a family man. I never saw him just as a provider. He was always there for us. When we were just starting in showbiz and even up to now, he has always been our biggest supporter and cheerleader,” she said.
Growing up, his dad was more of the disciplinarian-type, often not allowing them to go to bars with friends. “While he made it very clear that he was the parent and we were the children, he was also very sweet and malambing.”
When it comes to Father’s Day celebrations, they usually keep it simple. Her dad doesn’t ask for any gifts because he’s not materialistic. But when they do give him presents, her dad would make sure to show his appreciation.
“We mostly just have dinner to celebrate Father’s Day. What’s important is that we’re all together,” she said.
As for becoming the face of Chery, Alex G said she doesn’t endorse any product which she doesn’t believe in.

Alex G recently made her debut as Chery brand ambassador through the premiere of a 60-seconder promotional video on the automobile’s social media channels. With the video, she leads Chery’s “Fun To Drive” campaign, where Chery envisions the Tiggo crossover line-up as the go-to rides for the youth, for families, and for every lifestyle that requires dynamic, exciting, and fully functional mobility.
The visuals show Alex G skilfully driving the Tiggo 7 PRO in both scenic nature and city views. As Alex puts her hands on the crossover, the plethora of never-before-seen tech and function features are uncovered and connected to her daily posh lifestyle. Injecting a bit of humor towards the end of the video, it wraps up in an aspirational, exciting tone.
There’s a lot to love about driving the Tiggo 7 PRO, including its luxurious leather seats, the dual-zone function of its air conditioning, and its spacious trunk where she can fit all her wardrobe sets, make-up, and other big equipment.
Alex G also mentioned how she likes the 360-around view monitor shown on its infotainment system. The surroundings of the car automatically pop out on the screen, which makes her feel like she has an eye on every corner of her Tiggo 7 PRO.
The car’s wireless mobile charger also comes in handy, ensuring she has enough juice so she can communicate with her fans and followers anytime.
Aside from a busy filming schedule, Alex G also heads the marketing division of her family’s beverage business. On top of all that, she’s also a dedicated housewife.
