Mercedes-Benz PH offers new E200 for P5.39 million

Auto Nation Group (ANG), the official distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines publicly unveiled this afternoon the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class via Facebook Live at Facebook page of Mercedes-Benz Philippines and YouTube Live at Mercedes-Benz Philippines Official YouTube account.

In a virtual press conference held earlier this morning, ANG spokesperson and product said that the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class had undergone a comprehensive update, with new intelligent features, enhanced dynamics, and fresh appearance.

This is the tenth generation of the E-Class and was unveiled in 2016 at Shangri-la BGC on October of that year and this writer also had the opportunity to test drive the car in Lisbon, Portugal on March of the same year. The new heavily updated E-Class offers a wealth of innovations in the area of the driving assistance systems among other features.

It is loaded with next-generation driver assistance systems, comfort features and safety technologies, that bring luxury experience to new levels and giving an even stronger impression.” says Frankie Ang, Chief Operating Officer at Auto Nation Group, Inc.

Since the first generation W120 “Ponton” E-Class up to present, over 14 million units have been sold globally, with many of these cars still on the road. Locally, over 2,000 units have been sold since the 2004.

The E-Class is the quintessential luxury midsize sedan wrapped in a timeless modern design. The new front end has a revised grille adding to the fresh appearance that blends well with the redesigned radiator trim with diamond pins in chrome and inserts in high-gloss black finish and redesigned headlamps equipped with LED High Performance headlights. The taillamps have also been updated with its two-piece LED taillamps wrap horizontally around the rear body to make the E-Class appear wider and giving a stronger and more stable-looking stance. It works beautifully with the new geometrically designed LEDs replacing the crystalline optic of the previous design.

The new E-Class is available in a sporty AMG Line body styling, with a set of 19-inch AMG 5-twin spoke light alloy wheels painted in tantalite gray with a high-sheen finish.

Inside, the E-Class the upgraded interior comes with a dual 12.3-inch display monitor arranged horizontally for a wider appearance. It also comes with the latest generation MBUX multimedia system that has voice commands to attend to infotainment functions. The infotainment system also offers seamless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration for a more hands-free driving experience. The new and sportier looking multifunction steering wheel is cladded in Nappa leather.

What’s new with the E-Class are the latest technology used in its safety features including the PRE-SAFE system, Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist, Urban Guard vehicle protection that compromises an anti-theft alarm system plus tow-away protection that enables to detect changes with the movement of the vehicle. It is also equipped with Active Parking Assist with an advance reversing camera to provide support to the driver.

The sole variant (for now) of the new E-Class is powered by a 2 liter inline four-cylinder petrol engine and geared with 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission, producing a power and torque of 197 hp and 320Nm respectively. The gears can shift swiftly with low engine revs, promoting fuel efficiency and manageably noise levels.

The new E-Class only comes in the E 200 variant as of this writing and will carry a price tag of P5.39 million. It’s now available for viewing in all Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide.
