The number 2 proved providential for Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) because in February, which is the second month of 2022, the Japanese diesel engine manufacturer announced that it is still the country’s top truck distributor for the 22nd consecutive year.

In a report by the Truck Manufacturers Association Inc. (TMA) and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (Campi), IPC managed to sell 4,427 trucks in 2021. And by selling 2,745 Category III Light-Duty trucks (56 percent market share), 1,397 Category IV Medium-Duty trucks (38.3 percent market share), and 285 Category V Heavy-Duty trucks (5.3 percent market share), IPC is able to capture 45.5-percent share of the market last year.

“Isuzu’s global reputation as the leading truck maker, known for its durability and reliability, as well as on the company’s excellent after sales support, manifested through IPC’s nationwide dealer network with top-notch servicing facilities, expert service technicians and field support personnel that are on-call to provide technical assistance whenever and wherever needed,” explained IPC President Hajime Koso of the brand’s continued domination.

Koso also attributed IPC’s success to the brand’s ability to innovate through the years. In 2021 alone, IPC introduced the Isuzu N-Series Smoother, which offers an industry-first Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), a type of transmission that brings the best out of manual and automatic gearboxes. He also announced Isuzu’s plans in shifting toward sustainability:

“(Year) 2022 will be the start of a new era for Isuzu—a more sustainable and eco-friendlier plans will be introduced that are in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This includes its products, operations and customer service. IPC will evolve into a company that creates economic value combined with social and environmental contributions to with-stand the challenges ahead.”
