Sojitz G Auto Philippines Corporation (SGAP), the local distributor of Geely in the country, staged a virtual unveil of its all-new Emgrand sedan while the country was on a holiday for the commemoration of the Edsa People Power anniversary.
The Emgrand is the fourth model introduced by Geely PH/SGAP since relaunching the brand in 2019.

The Emgrand is Geely PH’s first and latest entry in the highly competitive subcompact sedan segment of the passenger vehicle market. The new Emgrand is the fourth generation model, first of which was introduced back in 2009. Geely says that the current and latest generation is expected to inspire more people to “Be Driven” in life, which was its launch theme.
The Emgrand is considered the best-in-class and comes well-spec’d with numerous features compared to its competitors in the same category. It has consistently been the best-selling sedan in China for nine consecutive years, selling more than 3.38 million units as of last year. The launch makes Philippines as the first market outside China since its local debut last year. Perhaps because Geely PH has been enjoying tremendous growth, jumping into to top 10 best-selling brands in the country with just over two years in the market.
Powered by its new 1.5 liter Dual Continuous Variable Valve Timing normally aspirated engine, it is rated at 102 horsepower with 142 Nm of torque. Power-to-weight ratio is improved thanks to its lightweight all-aluminum alloy cylinder block that is mated with an 8-speed continuous variable transmission (CVT), which promises lesser shift shocks and a more responsive operation with better acceleration. It also uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt for maintenance free and a longer life span.
With the Emgrand, Geely created a design which evolves on the new generation of fashion based on the concept of “polar light and shadow aesthetics” creating the first wide body, low-lying style of the B-segment sedan. It uses the longest roof laser welding instead of spot weld on the Emgrand, increasing its strength by 50%.
Inside, its seats are made of memory foam with a light luxury suede and environment friendly imitation leather material combination (for the Premium variant). There are a number of soft touch surfaces on the dashboard and door panels while the steering wheel is wrapped with constant temperature leather material, adding to its premium feel. For the Premium variant, it has a 12.3-inch digital meter which has 3D interface and high-definition display that supports various driving information and an 8-inch HD central screen is also standard to support entertainment and control of other basic functions.
Active and passive safety features include ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Traction Control, Hill Hold Control, Electric Parking Brake with Autohold, Six Airbags (for the Premium variant), a 3 ultra-sonic reversing radars and high definition wide angle reverse camera (for the Premium variant), Real-time Temperature and Pressure Tire Monitoring System and now a unique Rear Intelligent Monitoring System that gives you a reminder to check the rear seats before getting off the car.
The Emgrand comes with six colors : Proud Teal, Dark Blue, Gold, Gray, Red, and White. The Premium variant is priced at P908,000 while the Comfort variant is priced at P798,000. Like other models, it comes with a 5-year warranty or 150,000 kilometers whichever comes first.
Geely PH also announced that customers who will purchase the Emgrand during the launch period will automatically get a P50,000 discount and a Free 1-year Periodic Maintenance Service inclusive of parts, oil and labor. Aside from this, customers who will reserve or purchase an Emgrand until May 31 will automatically get a raffle entry for a chance to be one of the three winners of P250,000 worth of savings or rebate.
