Mitsubishi teases new Xpander ahead of official debut

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) just announced that it will be accepting reservations for the new Xpander MPV starting March 5.

The popular 7-seater was introduced in 2018 and it has consistently been the brand’s best-selling nameplate. In 2021, the Xpander had a dominant 54.40 percent market share in the MPV category, according to MMPC.

“Came as no surprise to us that the Xpander helped MMPC deliver a strong retail performance. It checks all the boxes when it comes to the qualities that our customers look and yearn for in an MPV. Aside from local recognition, it continuously garners awards from different parts of the world which is a testament to how outstanding it really is,” said Takeshi Hara, MMPC President and CEO.

“These were part of the inspiration for the newest Xpander, which will actually be already offered in advance to our Filipino customers. But it doesn’t just end there, we also have a special pre-selling treat in store before the month ends.”

The upcoming Xpander has a new and refreshed exterior, starting with its new signature T-shaped head and tail light with a redesigned horizontal front bumper. It also has a set of 17-inch wheels which is larger than the current one. The lines and edges have a sharper crease that visibly gives it more definition and an overall refreshed look. Inside, the interior finish looks notably more premium and with Mitsubishi’s Design Identity of Horizontal Axis in the dashboard, making it look wider and more expansive. The added soft padding accents, and 7-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also modernized the new Xpander that would appeal even to the younger market.

The addition of high performance valves in the front and rear suspension also gives the new Xpander a flatter and more comfortable ride while still keeping its best-in class ground clearance of 225 mm–useful in the flood prone streets of the metro.

The price attractively matches its five color options including the newest Blade Silver Metallic. The Xpander will be showcased at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show, happening at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from April 7 to 10, from 10am to 9pm. Special promos await eager buyers of the new Xpander and other Mitsubishi models.

The prices of the three variants are: Xpander GLX 1.5 2WD M/T at 1.030 million, Xpander GLX 1.5G 2WD A/T at P1.090 million and Xpander GLS 1.5G 2WD A/T at P1.160 million.
