Angkas, the ride hailing app, has taken the lead in sponsoring local riders for both local and international competitions.
During a press conference at the opening of Inside Racing Bike Fest and Trade Show, Angkas-CEO George Royeca said that Angkas is throwing its support behind TJ and Troy Alberto. TJ is competing at the ARCC (Asia Road Racing Championships) Chang circuit Thailand, while Troy is at Estoril, Portugal for the World SSP 300. While local racer and Angkas brand ambassador EJ Sobretodo will compete at the ACRR – Asia Cup Road Racing at the Tarlac circuit.
This venture aims to support our local motorcycle riders, get them to hone their skills and prepare them to race abroad.
The cost of racing, especially at the international level, is prohibitive and often the biggest challenge for local riders to compete outside of the country to gain exposure and test their talents against the best of rest of the world.
With the support of Angkas, we now have the opportunity to prove to everyone that Filipino riders can compete at world class levels.
Part of its support to motorsports will see Angkas will initiate a training program for potential champion riders in partnership with Ducati Philippines within the year.
“This program will be open to all potential champions, including Angkas riders.” said Royeca.
