Full-scale Ferrari will join BMW, Jeep, and Ducati-themed displays

Lego Philippines will have a very special display for enthusiasts of all ages at the Manila International Auto Show this April 7-10 at the World Trade Center Pasay City. At the lego booth will be an eye-popping full-scale Ferrari 512 M race car rendered in Lego bricks.

The 1:1 Ferrari 512 M race car measures 2700mm x 1200m x 700mm. It weighs up to 280kg, and took 480 hours to build. Lego has previously collaborated with car manufacturers for full-scale cars built with Lego bricks. What makes the Ferrari 512 M unique is that the full-scale car is not meant to look like the original race car, but rather to be a big version of the Lego Ferrari 512 M set.

The Ferrari 512 was a racing vehicle developed by Ferrari for sports car racing. It was raced by outfits such as Team Penske. The Ferrari 512 debuted at the 1970 24 Hours of Daytona. Notable victories include the 1970 12 Hours of Sebring. The 512 was also immortalized in film, as it appeared in the Steve McQueen film “Le Mans.” Lego has released a kit for collectors to build their own scale-model Ferrari 512 M. The mini version consists of 291 pieces and captures realistic details of the race car, such as the aerodynamic design.
