GAC Motor Philippines put on an impressive display at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show, running from April 7 to 10 at the World Trade Center. GAC Motor revealed the all-new Empow55 sports sedan and the second-generation GS8 SUV as its flagship model.
The Empow55 is a sleek four-door sedan with a coupe-like profile. It rides on GAC’s new Global Platform Modular Architecture platform. As emphasized the sedan’s low-slung appearance, the Empow55 has a low center of gravity, low drag coefficient of 0.26, short front overhang, wide track, long wheelbase, and wide body. The Empow55 features a Mecha grille with double-sided blade air curtains, four exhaust pipes, 18-inch alloy wheels, and rear deflector. It has slim and upswept LED headlamps, sloping rear windshield, and slim LED taillights. Powering the Empow55 is a 2.0 liter engine with high thermal efficiency of 42.1%, generating more power at lower fuel consumption.
GAC also revealed the second-generation GS8 SUV. The new GS8 now features a new multi-link rear suspension for better comfort, space, and handling. The front-wheel drive GS8 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a robust 252hp and 400Nm. It’s mated to an 8-speed Aisin automatic.
The new GS8 measures 4980mm length x 1950mm width x 1780mm height, with a long 2920mm wheelbase. GS8 features vertical LED headlights, “Dragon Scale Wing” front grille, and “Red Diamond” taillights. Inside it has a 12.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.6-inch center LED touchscreen, and floating lower center console with wireless charging panel for compatible devices.
