Porsche Design Manila holds 50th Anniversary exhibit and celebration at Okada

Porsche Design Manila celebrated the brand’s 50th anniversary at Okada Manila recently, marking five decades of automotive themed luxury lifestyle retail brand and design studio founded by Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche, the son of Ferry Porsche, together with his brother Hans-Peter in Stuttgart in 1972.

Porsche Design has long since become an internationally renowned lifestyle retail luxury brand, as well as a design consultancy powerhouse involved not only in retail but also in high end real estate design and development, aviation and other special projects. F.A. Porsche’s designs are known for its functionality and are purveyors of well-made and highly durable products with a purist aesthetic.

“Butzi” is also best known for his design of the iconic 911 sporstcar and 904 race car bearing the Porsche badge.

The Manila event is a week-long special exhibition of several Porsche sports cars from the iconic 356 Speedster to the more current 911 models displayed at the Crystal Corridor of Okada Manila. The event last July 20 kicked off the celebrations while the exhibit ended yesterday.

Present at the event were Porsche Design Manila Managing Director Hans Yao and Director for Porsche Design Asia-Pacific, Nina Razali who flew in for the occasion. TV personality and Porsche Design ambassador Migs Bustos, who hosted the event, introduced the brand’s history and other Porsche Design ambassadors including the bemedalled pole vaulter E.J. Obiena who recently took a trip to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

The popular track star and social media personality posted a series of vlogs to share his trip to the Mecca of the Porsche brand.

Other brand ambassadors present to support the event were businessman and racing enthusiast Brian Poe-Llamanzares, automotive car wrap company Second Skin Industries owner Archie Chiang, Import Hookup owner Keith Bryan Haw, and CSB Blazers Coach and CNN Philippines Sports Analyst Charles Tiu.

It was Chang who helped curate the special car exhibits with the Porsche cars beautifully wrapped in colorful liveries with Second Skin special automotive body foil wraps. Porsche Design Manila also announced the partnership between Porsche Design Manila and ILLA Racing owner Poe-Llamanzers for its up and coming races.

The Porsche Design 50Y car exhibit shows a 1956 356 Speedster, considered as the forefather of the Porsche 911, and beside it were more modern Porsches including a 2016 991 GT3RS, a 2020 911 Speedster, 2013 Carrera S, 718 Cayman GT4, and a 1993 993 C2 Coupe with a special mural artwork rendered by artist Ramon Orlina.

During the same event, Porsche Design together with gaming monitor brand leader AOC also unveiled the Porsche Design AOC AGON Gaming Monitor. It’s a 27-inch LED monitor that can provide an experience similar to driving a race car. The sleek, eye-catching, racing-influenced design offers a wide range of functionalities to be utilized both on a daily basis and during long gaming sessions. The monitor won the coveted 2020 Red Dot Award 2020. Present at the event to introduce the model was Jack Salamia, AOC Philippines head of marketing.
