Kia goes electric at PIMS with the all-new EV6

Kia Philippines will be going high-tech at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). The increasingly sporty Korean brand will be showcasing the EV6 electric vehicle, as well as the newest vehicles in its fleet. This includes the Sorento flagship midsize SUV, the luxurious Carnival multi-purpose vehicle, the Soluto subcompact sedan loaded with smart convenience features, and the Stonic Style Edition subcompact SUV.

The Kia EV6 is an all-new electric vehicle built on the company’s Electric-Global Modular Platform. The EV6 features a long wheelbase equivalent to the brand’s large SUV, the Telluride. The electric crossover can go up to 528 km on a single charge. Charging itself can be a fast affair when using an 800-volt DC fast charging system. This allows the car to add almost 112 km of range in less than five minutes, with up to 347km added in under 18 minutes. The onboard charger allows the car to go from 10 to 100 percent charge in 7 hours, 10 minutes.

The EV6 is reported to have a modern, eco-friendly cabin. It makes extensive use of recycled plastic throughout the interior. Animal lovers will be happy with the 100% vegan leather surfaces. Even the seat frames have been made thinner to maximize rear seat knee room. The seat uses ultra-light “giga-steel” to achieve this. A panoramic 12.3-inch video screen acts as the center display and infotainment screen.

The EV6 has been awarded 2022 European Car of the Year thanks to its dedicated platform, high performance and range, and roomy interior. The car also earned a Guinness World Record for the shortest charging time to cross the US in an electric vehicle. The average charging stop was less than 20 minutes, with a total of charging time of 7 hours, 10 minutes and 1 second to complete the journey from New York City to Los Angeles.

“We are poised to let our show-goers witness our cutting-edge lineup,” says Kia Philippines president Manny Aligada. “We also want to open a window to the future and share with the Filipino public our vision of what to expect from Kia in the coming years. We will do this by offering an immersion into the charging ecosystem of our Kia EV6 electric vehicle, to demonstrate that it is packed with surprises and is more than just a car. And true to our ‘Movement that Inspires’ tagline, our visitors will get to experience our interactive digital art display that unifies our futuristic and relevant Kia showcase.”

The booth will feature the Kia Interactive Motion Wall. It’s a digital art installation that shows artistic interperations of land, ocean, and air. The digital animation will be triggered via motion sensors to interact with the visitors.

“We invite everyone to drop by the Kia display at PIMS 2022,” adds Aligada. “Be part of the movement that inspires, and join Kia on a journey toward a greener and more sustainable future.”
