New Lexus showroom at Mitsukoshi BGC showcases design pieces from Cebu

When Mitsukoshi BGC had its soft opening last November, the much-anticipated Japanese-branded mall quickly became a hit as Filipino shoppers showed how much they miss traveling to Japan since the start of the pandemic. The building became a hub to showcase the retail culture of Japan through their store offerings, architecture, and hospitality.

So it isn’t surprising to see luxury car brand opening a new showroom at the namesake of a mall they frequent when they are in key cities of Japan in the same month when Lexus celebrates its 14th anniversary of operations in the country.

And Lexus intentionally showcases the brand’s heritage, sensibilities, and design inspirations that symbolize the new Lexus DNA of craftsmanship, and cutting-edge technology.

Columns wrapped with natural, local wood

Among the subtle details of the showroom is the clever integration of its easily recognizable “spindle grille” that has become a design icon for the Lexus brand. Intricately woven in Cebu, it has been crafted to transform into a Nest Box, using local materials such as Capiz shells, rattan, natural wood, which are also found in the furniture, lighting fixtures, and décor of the space. The columns wrapped with natural, local wood holds up the focal point of the space.

The Mitsukoshi BGC showroom will be the new location and home of the electrified vehicles of Lexus.
