Gogoro Smartscooters, battery-swapping tech introduced in local market

Electric two-wheeler, Gogoro Smartscooters, along with its battery-swapping technology, was unveiled today at the Globe headquarters in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Top executives from Globe Group’s 917Ventures, Ayala Corporation, and Taiwan’s Gogoro Inc. led the launching ceremony, ushering in a new era of affordable yet smart and sustainable transportation.

“This year, Filipinos will have access to these electric two wheelers and Gogoro’s convenient and cost-efficient battery-swapping technology, another first in the Philippines,” Globe Group president and CEO Ernest Cu said during the launch.

This is Globe Group’s first venture in the climate tech space as it continues to bring convenience and innovation to the Filipino consumer. This time, with Gogoro, the Ayala-led synergy group aims to address the daily challenges of today’s commuters, such as: Skyrocketing fuel prices, pollution and inconvenience in public transportation.

Also, this marks the local entry of the successful Taiwan-based two-wheel mobility marque. Other than the Philippines, it also operating in China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Korea and Israel.

For the meantime, Gogoro scooters are to be tested by Ayala employees before being commercialized within Metro Manila in Q4 this year.
