“Morizo” or better known as Toyota Motor Corporation chairman, Akiyo Toyoda, is bannering this year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival.
The TMC executive-turned-speed guru, together with an ensemble of world-class caliber racers, is going to fill the streets of the Quirino Grandstand in Manila with adrenaline-pumping action like never before this August 23 and 24.
The unprecedented affair, will not only host “Morizo” (Toyoda’s pseudonym in racing circles) but will also pit international racers and renowned Toyota Gazoo Racing Team drivers, Katsuta Norihiko and Sasaki Masahiro, in a rally exhibition. The Japanese speed duo is to excite the Filipino crowd and teach them the “Gazoo” way of racing. The legendary TGR race cars, Toyota WRC Yaris and Red Bull GR Corolla are also set to put on an exhilarating showdown.
Sharing the stage with them are our own local racers, Alex Perez, Luis Gono and TGR ambassador, Marlon Stockinger. They will likewise show off their own speed acumen in drifting and gymkhana, this time, behind the wheels of GR Supra, GR Yaris and GR 86.
Celebrity racer Ryan Agoncillo will also demonstrate his skills as part of Team Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines of this year’s TGR Vios Cup.
Meantime, spectators will, not only grab a chance to take a glimpse of the vehicles, but also get to ride shotgun in them with the professional drivers.
Moreover, from eargasmic sounds of the engines to inspiring and soulful music from our local artists can be listened to as Filipino crowd favorite Ben & Ben is set to perform on the opening day. Joining them is OPM legend, Ely Buendia. The following day, expect back-to-back rock performances from Parokya ni Edgar and Kamikazee.
Also, on August 24, the best sim racers of the country are to face off at this season’s TGR Gran Turismo Cup (GT Cup). This will determine the winners of the National Finals who will then move on to represent the country in the Asia Regional Rounds.
It will be an electrifying two days of motorsports extravaganza from the Japanese auto giant, led by Toyoda. Admission is free. So, better don’t miss the action and make sure to be part of the festivities. Just register at https://toyotagrfestivalph.com/.
