The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) is celebrating its fruitful golden year revelries this 2023.

Part of its celebration is a commemorative display at the Activity Center in Trinoma Mall in Quezon City.

During the opening ceremony, MDPPA president Norminio Mojica said, “Our journey of 50 years is a testament to our commitment to safety, innovation, and community. We remain steadfast in our purpose — to be the most relevant motorcycle association, proactively addressing the needs of industry stakeholders, and oriented towards global competitiveness and the sustainable development of the motorcycle industry.”

Mojica also shared the organization’s history, noting that it all started in 1973 with the Philippine Motorcycle Manufacturing Program (PMMP). The said institution, he explained, was established with the goal of supporting the Philippine motor vehicle development program of the Board of Investments.

He added, “PMMP’s main purpose then was to provide a center for the exchange and dissemination of knowledge, learning, expertise, and relevant information relating to the development of the motorcycle industry.”

In 1989, it then changed its name to what’s known now as Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association or MDPPA.

“Since then, MDPPA has served as the premiere association, being at the forefront of the motorcycle manufacturing development and advancement in the Philippines,” he continued.

He further explained that through the organization’s various committees, the motorcycle manufacturer’s association provided its technical expertise and assistance in crafting regulations and policies to help steer the local motorcycle industry.

“MDPPA has likewise spearheaded countless road safety activities, the most prominent of which is the Generation Road Safety Campaign to espouse and spread awareness to the Youth. On the global arena, MDPPA, as a member of the Federation of Asian Motorcycle Industries, has also been key in the harmonization of regulations and cooperation initiatives, especially in the Asian region,” he added.

During the ceremonies at Trinoma Mall in Quezon City, special guests such as Land Transportation Office’s Vigor Mendoza, the Philippine Board of Investments’ Corrie Dichosa, Motorcycle Dealer Association of the Philippines president Edwin Go and other dignitaries were also in attendance.
