Hyundai launches Custin X premium and Stargazer X

Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has strengthened its MPV lineup with the launch of the Stargazer X and the all-new Custin premium MPV at the picturesque Lakehall at Sta. Elena Golf and Country Estate on October 16, 2023.
The all-new Custin fills a void in the local MPV market: a premium, sliding-door minivan with upscale interior and loaded with the latest comfort and convenience features. The Custin measures 4950-mm long x 1850 wide x 1710-mm tall, making it manageable for most parking spaces. Wheelbase is a lengthy 3055mm, boding well for the interior space. There’s seating for seven: two in the front row, two in second-row captain’s chairs, and three in the rearmost bench seat. The Premium variant is equipped with “relaxation” seats for the second row: power sliding and reclining, including pop-up ottoman, and with ventilation and memory function. The Custin has dual sliding doors: powered on the right-hand side for the base GLS variant, and dual powered for the Premium variant. The Premium gets a powered tailgate, as well.
The gauge panel is fully digital, using a 4.2-inch LCD.
A 10.4-inch center touchscreen display controls the audio system. Phone connection is enabled via Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Bluetooth. There are multiple charging ports for first and second-row passengers, including wireless charging pads.
Powering the Custin is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, good for 170ps and 253N-m of torque. It’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Disc brakes are at all four wheels. The Custin GLS rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Premium gets upgraded to 18-inchers.
The Hyundai SmartSense active safety suite is onboard the Premium variant. Smartsense includes forward collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, safe exit assist, high-beam assist, lane-following assist, and surround view monitor. Dual front, side and curtain airbags are standard for all variants.
Exterior colors are: Polar White, Military Gray Metallic, And Aurora Blue Pearl. Prices are: Custin 1.5 T-GDI GLS 8AT-P1,770,000 and Custin 1.5 T-GDI Premium 8AT-P2,080,000
The other MPV launched by Hyundai is the Stargazer X, a sportier variant of the compact MPV. The Stargazer X features a blacked-out fascia, black wheel arch surrounds and molding, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The H-shaped LED tail lamps are retained. Seats are trimmed in black leatherette with red stitching. The Stargazer X seats seven in three rows. The second and third rows can split-fold to vary the space between passengers and cargo.
The instrument panel features an 8-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth, as well as a wireless smartphone charger. The Hyundai SmartSense active safety features are on board the Stargazer X.
Stargazer X is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 115ps and 144N-m. The MPV has disc brakes on all four wheels. Its suspension uses McPherson struts front and torsion beam at the rear.
Stargazer X is available in two-tone colors: Dragon red pearl, Creamy white pearl, and Magnetic silver metallic. The vehicle is priced at P1,348,000.
Hyundai Custin and Stargazer X are covered by the brand’s 5-year, 200,000 km warranty.
