Hyundai Motor Philippines cranks up the ‘Star’ power with four new celebrity endorsers

Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) has built a “Star”-studded lineup since it started operations on June 2022.

This includes the Stargazer seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle and its more rugged sibling, the Stargazer X. And then there’s the Staria, with its ultra-modern design that makes its rivals look like, well, vans.

The Korean carmaker announced this month in a press statement that it has four new stars. But this time, they’re straight out of the big screen and the concert stage.

“This select group has been put together not only because they are the most esteemed and talented stars of this generation, but more importantly, since they are known to have positively adapted and evolved themselves at every stage of their respective careers,” said HMPH managing director Cecil Capacete.

“And as we find ourselves going through a similar journey, we look forward to them becoming catalysts,” he added. “This means forming deeper connections while communicating our vision on innovation and sustainability with Filipino motorists.”

Hyundai’s new leading men

Kicking off this ensemble cast of high-profile endorsers is legendary actor Piolo Pascual, who recently took home the Best Actor award at the 2024 Manila International Film Festival in Los Angeles for his role in the horror flick Mallari.

This is the latest in a string of accolades for “Asia’s Drama Superstar” over his three-decade-long career that includes multiples FAMAS Awards and PMPC Star Awards for Movies, as well as a Gawad Urian Award. He has also built a strong following as a recording artist, along with being a member of ABS-CBN’s The Hunks.

“It’s always a great feeling to be tapped by brands that are trusted and well-respected in their respective fields,” Pascual said. “Hyundai’s promise on ‘Freedom of Mobility’ that goes beyond vehicles intrigues and excites me. I can’t wait to further discover it with my fellow Filipino car owners and enthusiasts.”

Backing Piolo is another “P” – Paulo Avelino, who cemented his reputation in the big screen as Gregorio del Pilar in the 2015 film Heneral Luna and its 2018 sequel, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.

After being discovered in GMA’s StarStruck in 2006, his career has branched out into various roles on film and television. One of his latest projects is the local adaptation of the highly popular K-drama What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, which is set to premiere on Viu on Mar. 18.

“It’s a plus to be endorsing a brand that you believe in and share the same passion with,” he said. “I’m one who’s not afraid to branch out in terms of show business, as seen in my involvements in e-sports and gaming. Much like Hyundai, who is stepping out of its comfort zone on being just a car manufacturer to redefine innovation.”

Fabulous females of film and music

Speaking of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Avelino’s leading lady from the upcoming drama is also one of HMPH’s new stars.

Starting out as the winner of the first-ever Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition, Kim Chiu has grown into one of the country’s most sought-after stars. That’s why in 2020, Forbes Asia named her as one of the most influential Filipino personalities.

Chiu said she’s excited to be part of the HMPH family, especially because she has had the chance to try out the brand’s latest models.

“Those around me, even my followers for that matter, know that I enjoy being behind the wheel,” she said.

“Though it’s only been a few years since I started to drive, the car buying and servicing process is very familiar to me,” she added. “So I feel grateful to be given the chance to work with a brand whose commitment towards ownership is centered on ‘quality time’ to ensure that customers can make the most out of their cars.”

Rounding out HMPH’s star-studded lineup is one of the biggest icons in Philippine music, Sarah Geronimo, who became a household name after winning the Star for a Night competition in 2003.

Since then, she has gained international acclaim as a singer and actress, including being the first Filipina to receive the “Global Force Award” at the upcoming 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards in Los Angeles.

“It is always a pleasure whenever I get to work with brands that allow me to maximize my platform and continuously grow,” said the “Popstar Royalty.”

“So this partnership with Hyundai Motor Philippines is extra special because I get to work with a group who has a unique approach towards mobility,” she added. “I’m eager to being one with Hyundai’s efforts and contribute in its vision of a sustainable and progressive future for Filipinos.”
