Motorists who pass through the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX) will have to pay P1 to P3 more in toll starting Monday, March 18.
In an advisory, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) said it has authorized the operator of the MCX, the Villar family-owned MCX Project Co. Inc., to begin collection of the second tranche of its provisional toll hike.
The new toll rates are P19 for Class 1 (car, jeepney, van, or pickup); P39 for Class 2 (bus and light trucks), and P58 for Class 3 (heavy and trailer trucks) vehicles.
The increase in toll, which is P1 for Class 1, P2 for Class 2 and P3 for Class 3, is equivalent to the first tranche of toll adjustment implemented in November last year. The toll hike was approved in line with the periodic adjustments for 2018 and 2020.
According to the TRB, the notice to start collection was issued after MCX Project complied with the publication requirements and the posting of a surety bond.
The MCX is a 4-kilometer expressway that connects the Daang Hari and Daang Reyna in Las Piñas and Bacoor, where Villar-developed properties are sprawling, to Muntinlupa along the South Luzon Expressway. It is the shortest toll road in the country.
