For more than 35 years, the Subaru Legacy rans its course. Lately, however, the Japanese marque, will soon have the particular sedan lineup phased out, having its 2025 model the last of its line.
After six generations, the US-built sedan will bid its last farewell, sadly finding itself on the chopping block.
The Legacy first rolled out in 1989, designed specifically for the American market. It was the first Subaru to be built in the United States when the automaker opened its plant in Lafayette, Indiana.
In the 90s, the Legacy helped the brand Subaru establish its foothold in the market, particularly in the US, as the sedan has always been known as a versatile all-terrain vehicle, especially since it has proven its show stopping performances in rally races.
The sedan may have enjoyed its heydays. Recently, however, the market is drastically shifting toward crossovers and SUVs; hence, the unfortunate decision of the company to remove the Legacy from its lineup by next year.
Moreover, Legacy’s sales have also been on the steep decline these past several years with, for example, just a meager 25, 510 units sold globally in 2023.
