Guinness Glory: Yamaha Motor Philippines revs into history

Last July 13, more than 3,000 Yamaha riders unite for a record-breaking spectacle

Strength in numbers: Different Yamaha communities, including YClub, showed their support for Yamaha Motor Philippines’ Guinness World Record bids.

The sun had not yet risen in Manila, but already the Aseana City grounds in Paranaque was already filled with hundreds of motorcycle riders on their personal Yamaha bikes last July 13. It was a veritable showcase of scooters and underbone motorcycles, from the popular Mio line-up, including the Soul, i125 and Fazzio, to name a few, to Snipers and NMaxes and even an XSR or two. By the time the sun started peeping over the Manila Bay horizon, more than 3,000 motorcycles, scooters, Sport Machines and their riders were present to show the strength, camaraderie and unity of the local Yamaha community.

It was, after all, an extraordinary day. It was Yamaha Motor Philippines’ rebid for two Guinness World Record titles. It’s been a decade since the well-loved brand showed strength in numbers, when it bagged the Guinness World Records for the Most Engines Started and Horns Sounded simultaneously.

With the support of Yamaha Motor Philippines’ YClub riding group, and other equally passionate riders, the brand proved to the world that it still continues to rev everyone’s hearts. The Guinness World Records team officially counted 3,297 horns blaring simultaneously for more than 15 seconds, and 3,311 engines revving for 60 seconds, leading Yamaha Motor Philippines to exceed their previous world records for both categories.

For Sales and Marketing Director Shinsuke Iida, this momentous event showcases not only the pride, strength and unity of the Yamaha team, but also of the community.

“It’s my first time seeing this many motorcycles at event like this, so I was genuinely surprised,” he said. “The Philippine community of motorcycle riders contributed a lot to this success. This shows the strong support that we have from our community.”

Later that day, Yamaha Motor Philippines also held an extravagant motorshow—its first in a decade—at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay Activity Center. The showcase featured the popular Mio line-up and the newly launched moped scrambler Yamaha PG-1. The brand even had a special activity area for kids to draw and color motorcycle illustrations, while their dads (or moms!) checked out the latest Yamaha offerings. Undoubtedly, guests and attendees were treated to a premium experience, true to Yamaha’s spirit and philosophy of kando

The Yamaha Motorshow continued the next day, with motorheads flocking to the venue to explore how Yamaha continues to bring about a world of continuous motion and innovation. A highlight during the second day was a special Sport Machines parade at the Ayala Mall Bay Central fountain, featuring the Drama Motoclub Riders (Jake Cuenca, John Prats, Sancho Vito, Marc Solis, Sam Milby and Gerald Anderson.) Yamaha Sport Machines is the new term for the brand’s premium motorcycles with high displacements and more power. Rev Zone loops, which will take place in different parts of the country, offer the opportunity for Sport Machines riders to enjoy their passion on two-wheels together, and build stronger, tighter bonds and a sense of community. That same night, Yamaha also revealed the much-awaited 2024 MT-09 SP, announced updates for the the Ténéré 700, and discussed the latest color for the TMAX TECHMAX.
