MANILA, Philippines — Gutter to knee-high floods affected a number of roads in Metro Manila on Wednesday due to heavy rains, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
As of 5:40 a.m., the following roads were submerged in an 8 to 19-inch deep flood, based on MMDA’s advisory:
City of Manila
- Bonifacio Drive, 25th Street northbound (NB) and southbound: gutter high (8 inches)
- Dimasalang cor. Becerra St. Sta. Cruz: gutter high (8 Inches)
- España- Lacson Ave. Intersection: gutter high (8 inches )
- Roxas Blvd. – T.M. Kalaw: gutter high (8 inches)
- Vito Cruz – Taft Ave.: knee high (19 inches)
Quezon City
- G. Araneta – Ma. Clara SB: gutter high (8 inches)
- E. Rodriguez – Araneta Avenue: gutter high (8 inches )
- Balintawak NB: gutter high (8 inches )
Pasay City

- Andrews Avenue – Tramo: gutter high (8 inches )
- Roxas Blvd. – Edsa NB Service Rd.: gutter high (8 inches)
- Airport Road – Domestic Road.: Half tire ( 13 inches )
Makati City
- Orense – Guadalupe NB: Knee high (19 inches)
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s 5 a.m. bulletin, Typhoon Carina was last spotted some 90 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum sustained winds of 155 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 190 kph.
It also enhanced the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, which is expected to bring moderate to intense rainfall in the western part of Luzon from Wednesday to Friday.
