IONIQ 5N headlines Hyundai Motor Philippines’ 2024 EV Summit display

Aside from exhibiting at the Philippine International Motor Show, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) was also at this year’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Summit on Oct. 24 to 26 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The South Korean carmaker said in a press statement that its display will feature its flagship battery EV, the IONIQ 5 N, which was named 2024 World Performance Car by the World Car Awards earlier this year.

As part of the brand’s N high-performance line, the P4,250,000 IONIQ 5 N is powered by an 84-kWh battery pack mated to electric motors on the front and rear axles. This all-wheel-drive, all-electric rocketship pumps out up to 641 horsepower and 770 Newton-meters of torque with its N Grin Boost mode engaged.

HMPH claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h. The IONIQ 5 N also features electronically controlled suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential and a high-performance braking system with 400-millimeter discs and 4-piston calipers up front and 360-millimeter rotors at the back.

Drivers with a penchant for sideways action can make full use of this super EV’s N Drift Optimizer to initiate and hold mega power slides. Helping hold them in are light sport bucket seats, as well as sports pedals that provide them maximum foot contact for the best control.

HMPH said, besides the IONIQ 5 N, visitors can also check out and test-drive the IONIQ 6 EV sedan, as well as redeem exclusive freebies at the Hyundai booth.

Spot the SPOT

HMPH’s EV Summit display was highlighted by the first Manila appearance of SPOT, an autonomous, four-legged robot produced by Hyundai and its American subsidiary, and robotics design engineering firm Boston Dynamics.

The carmaker said besides its awesome dance moves, SPOT is capable of doing tasks that would be dangerous to humans, such as working in nuclear facilities, chemical plants and high-voltage power stations. It is just one of the several innovations Hyundai has engineered in its mission to innovate mobility solutions for all.

“Our participation in this year’s EV Summit reflects our dedication to innovating the future for automotive technology,” said HMPH managing director Cecil Capacete.

“With our display of the IONIQ 5 N, as well as SPOT, we hope to share with everyone how Hyundai continues to spark change in the EV scene,” he added. “We invite everyone to visit our booth to see the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6, as we also have several exciting offers for you to enjoy at the 12 th EV Summit.”
